 Adopt a Golden

Thank you for considering an addition to your family. We are so grateful for people who are willing to share their time, love and home with a rescued Golden Retriever.

Each of our Goldens will come into rescue because of some trauma in their lives. With this in mind, Forever Friends has formed an adoption process that allows us to learn about your family, your lifestyle and your personal preferences so we will be able to help you find the best possible match.

FGGR Rescue will adopt to homes primarily in and near the Ventura and Santa Barbara County areas or where we have volunteers to provide support. A volunteer will conduct a Family Visit to meet the family and review the information provided on the Foster/Adoption Application form. We ask for a small donation at the time of the Family Visit ($25.00) that will be used for the benefit of our dogs only.

At the time of adoption we ask for a donation based on the age of the Golden to help defer some of the costs incurred making our Goldens adoptable:

$250.00 for dogs 7 years and older
$300.00 for dogs 3 years to 7 years
$350.00 for dogs 1 year to 3 years
$400.00 for puppies 6 months to 1 year old
$450.00 for puppies under 6 months old

All Goldens are neutered/spayed, microchipped, current on shots and vet checked prior to adoption. We will provide all available medical records and evaluation information to adopters.

To begin the adoption process, please complete the online application at the link below. Please tell us about your previous pet experiences, your past experiences with rescue animals and your family needs. The more you tell us, the better we can assist you in finding the perfect pet.

When your application is received by our staff, it will be reviewed and forwarded to a volunteer near you. Our volunteer will promptly contact you to discuss our Rescue and to schedule a personal visit to meet you and your family at your home.

During the home visit our volunteer needs to meet the entire family, including your current pets.  They will look at your yard, garage and home, and share with you any safety concerns they may have. They will review with you the rest of the adoption process and discuss your expectations.

The information obtained at the home visit will be shared with our other volunteers and foster parents  in an effort to find the perfect Golden for your family. We do not share your personal information with any other agency, group or individuals.

Our Family Visit volunteer does not approve or disapprove your application but may share his/her feelings, comments or concerns.

Looking In

 A Stray's Prayer

Dear God, please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair.
My body is aching, it's so racked with pain,
and, dear God, I pray, as I run in the rain.
That someone will love me and give me a home,
a warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.

My last owner tied me all day in the yard.
Sometimes with no water, and, God, that was hard.
So I chewed my leash, and, God, I ran away.
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now God, I'm tired and hungry and cold,
and I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.

They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones,
while I run the streets just looking for bones!
I'm not really bad, God, please help if you can,
or I have become just a "Victim of Man!"
I'm wormy, dear God, and I'm ridden with fleas,
and all that I want is an Owner to please!

If you find one for me, God, I'll try to be good,
and I won't chew their shoes, and I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, protect them and try to obey....
when they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!
I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
cause I'm so afraid, God, that I'm gonna die.
And I've got so much love and devotion to give,
that I should be given a new chance to live!
So dear God, please answer my prayer,
and send me someone who will REALLY care.

That is, Dear God, if YOU'RE REALLY there!                                            ...Unknown
