BEN was brought in to rescue through the cooperative efforts of a number of rescue angels.  He came with two siblings: another male and a female. Ben is approximately 9 weeks old, in very good health, and has had his first round of puppy shots. He will need his next set of puppy shots and his rabies shot, and will need to be neutered at an appropriate age.  Ben is the mellowest of the 3 puppies.  He weighed 16 pounds when rescued, is light blond and an absolute doll.  We are accepting adoption applications, subject to the following criteria:

  • A household where someone is home MOST of the time.
  • A VERY secure yard.  All three of these puppies are known escape artists.
  • A household in, or in very close proximity to, Ventura or southern Santa Barbara counties.
  • A family willing to transport as necessary to our vet in Thousand Oaks.

MAXIE: Three-year-old Maxie came all the way from San Diego to find a new home when her former owner was forced to move to a small apartment. Maxie loves to play ball and walks around with one in her mouth almost all day long. Her foster mom reports that she knows commands, is housebroken and crate-trained. She enjoys chilling in her crate during the day and is also comfortable in the easy chair or riding co-pilot in the car. Maxie's foster home is a very busy household with two small dogs. Maxie seems to be thriving in that environment. She loves people and will easily fit into the right home. She has lived with small kids, cats, and even birds! Spayed, shots up-to-date, 75 lbs. ADOPTION PENDING!

MAGGIE has not had a lot of luck lately. First her original owner was deployed and some friends took her in. During the year she was with them, they had a new baby who turned out to be allergic to Maggie, so she has to find yet another new home. Maggie has lived with young kids and loves them. She also loves chasing and retrieving tennis balls. Maggie runs like a champ without getting tired...you'd never guess she's 10 years old! She rides well in the car, likes big dogs, is okay with small dogs as long as they don't get in her face, and walks well on leash. Maggie is rather toy and bone possessive, though, so would do best in a home with no other dogs. We don't know how she is with cats. About 80 lbs (but needs to lose about 10), spayed, up-to-date on shots, housebroken, and leash-trained. In short, she's actually a perfect dog! Available now for our Golden Oldies - Senior-to-Senior Program: a senior 65 or older can adopt Maggie at no fee.
